Benefits of ENERGY STAR® Qualified New Homes

1. Lower Ownership Costs

Lower utility costs more than offset the cost of the additional energy features, saving you money every month.    An ENERGY STAR qualified new home could save the homeowner $800 to $1,000 annually in energy costs compared to a conventionally built home.*

2. Higher Level of Comfort

ENERGY STAR qualified homes are built with tight duct systems and improved windows.  Tight ducts mean that more heated or conditioned air gets to your living space.  Higher quality windows keep the sun’s heat out in the summer and keep heat in during the winter.

3. Quality Assurance

ENERGY STAR qualified homes are analysed, inspected and tested by an independent third party authorised by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan).

4. Health & Fresh Air

ENERGY STAR qualified homes include improved mechanical ventilation to reduce air contaminants and allergens to improve the indoor living environment.

5. Environmental Protection

Seventeen percent of all Canadian greenhouse gases, which contribute to air pollution and climate change, are generated from energy used in homes.  Quite simply, when we use less energy in our homes, we generate less air pollution.
